She has to go to Lucky Valley, face what she left behind, and figure out what to do with powers she has been pretending don't exist. Mal is patient and principled and doesn't seem to need anything from her, which is the most disorienting thing about him.
She has been running from her inheritance for years. Mal is making it very hard to remember why.
